Do’s & Don’ts for the best Bridal Hair & Make-up

by Salon and Spa Tips August 6 2015

Wedding season is creeping up on us in Palm Springs, although, does it ever really end?  While Pinterest has some great things to offer for all you modern day brides, there are a few Do’s and Don’ts that we thought you might want to know when it comes to your hair and make-up on your big day! These are 2 very important things that will be a huge part of your whole day and in photographs that you will cherish for the rest of your life.

Always, ALWAYS, schedule a trial!

It’s so important for you to get a feel of how your hair and make-up will look on that day, and equally as important for your stylist to get to know you and work with your hair a bit.  If you are going dress shopping or have a fitting, scheduling your trial the same day might be a plus to see exactly what your style will look like with your dress.

When choosing a bridal style, make sure to pick something you feel comfortable and pretty in!  And make sure you look like yourself.  If you don’t wear a lot of make-up on a day to day basis, keep your look natural and add some subtle lip stick or gloss.  If your hair is naturally curly, use that to your advantage but just fancy it up a bit.

DO NOT LIE to your stylist about how your look is coming together!  This is YOUR big day and we are here to make you feel your absolute best.  If you don’t like something, you have to communicate this with your stylist/make-up artist.  They want and need to know these things and we promise we won’t think you are being a Bridezilla!

Don’t do any tight braids along the hairline. This doesn’t tend to photograph well, and braids–although currently trendy–when placed directly on the hairline can tend to look a little adolescent.  There are many great braid trends to incorporate into your bridal look so don’t make that stir you away from them completely!

Be creative! We’ve had a few brides wear one hairstyle for the ceremony, and switch to something new during the reception. Of course, it’s easiest if your stylist is attending the wedding itself. See if you can have it loosely pinned up for the ceremony, and then take out some pins to let it down a bit for the reception.  Changing your lip color is an easy way to change your make up look as well.  Keep your look romantic for the ceremony and spice up the reception with a bold bright lip!  These are a few fun ways to change your look throughout the day!

We love weddings here at Studio M and would also love to be a part of your wedding memories.  We have a fabulous team to accommodate large wedding parties here at the salon OR keep it easy for you and your girls or guys and come to you!
